Your brain consists of millions of brain cells forming trillions of connections. These building blocks of the brain, called neurons, communicate with each other through chemical and electrical signals. When masses of neurons send synchronized pulses, they oscillate and produce a wave-like effect or a brain wave. Brain wave frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz) or cycles per second. Higher order brain activity will produce high-frequency brain waves, such as beta or gamma waves. When you are awake, in a normal state of consciousness, you are in the beta brain wave frequency range. As shown in the chart, delta brain waves are the slowest and are dominant when we are in a deep sleep. As with all things in life, having balance in brain wave activity is key to achieving optimal health and performance.
NuCalm® is based on the principle of neurofeedback, which is a type of therapy that uses brainwaves to help regulate mood and stress levels. The system works by sending calming signals to the brain through headphones or earbuds, which help to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.
There are many different types of meditation, but NuCalm® is unique in that it doesn’t require you to focus on your breath or count sheep. Instead, you simply listen to the calming sounds and let your mind wander.
The benefits of NuCalm® meditation are:
You should wear comfortable clothing that won’t distract you during your session. You can also enjoy your NuCalm® session during a red light therapy, BallancerPro, or sauna session.
WORTHY is a representation of my quest to be of service to my community, by creating a safe space for people from all walks of life to experience the healing that we are all worthy of.
Shortly after my mother passed away, and with the help of some incredible mentors, doctors and therapists, I had the healing realization that I had lived a lifetime in a state of sympathetic hyperarousal, or perpetual “fight or flight”. Unaddressed trauma had lead me down a cycle of unmanageable stress. My nervous system was in desperate need of regulation. I began to lean into the various modalities that I had already had in my tool kit as an athlete with greater frequency. Saunas, red light therapy, cold- plunging, breathwork, meditation, and lymphatic massage helped me heal my system so that I could put my best foot forward as a mother, sister, friend and entrepreneur, but most importantly for myself.
Thanks to these transformative practices, I am able to down regulate my nervous system, and build stress-resilience adaptations. In essence, I’ve been able to raise my baseline so that when I am faced with stress, I am able to respond with abundance and calm.
In recognizing my own struggles with stress and trauma, I began to cultivate compassion for myself (an ongoing journey), and in doing so, I was able to recognize the same challenges in others.
I began to question why it was so challenging for me and many in my community to gain access to these incredibly impactful modalities. Why are the impactful wellness services that changed my life so inaccessible?
Self-Care for ALL.
Our ethos is rooted in our collective humanity and the undeniable fact that every human on this earth is born WORTHY of good health, ease of being, love, joy and simply feeling good.
Our mission is to increase access to services like ours across the spectrum of our society. By doing so, I firmly believe that we can help uplift members of our community and society to a more just and equitable lived experience.
We offer a sliding scale program in addition to our 501c3 nonprofit, WORTHY Wellness Initiative. Through our initiative, we provide folks who meet the income requirements, a free membership to be able to experience our services. So often, wellness spaces like ours are inaccessible to members of our society who need them the most. This inequality disproportionately affects marginalized communities such as people of color, immigrants, people with physical differences, and members of the LGBTQIA community.
We are here to create a safe space and refuge for our guests through our shared and collective humanity.
It’s the honor of a lifetime to be of service in this way.
